Gordon Marshall EQ1 WIRELESS HEADSETS

Hi, I would like to bring to the attention of fellow microlight/trike pilots the arrival of the new wireless communications system that I have had the fortune of assisting in the development over the last 3 years. As a microlight instructor and flying in both my own aircraft and a multitude of students aircraft I was dismayed at the constant problems with innefficient or faulty comms. These issues cause immense frustration and at the end of the day money is lost for the school and the student m… Continue

Anthony Red Bull X-Alps 2009 - Pierre Carter and James Braid from SA!!

The Red Bull X-Alps is an international adventure race event that is one of the worlds toughest events. Paragliding athletes from all around the world enter and endure a thorough screening process and finally the field is narrowed down to 30 athletes. The race takes place over the length of the Alps and has a direct distance of around 800km's (this year starting in Salzburg and ending in Monte Carlo), but is actually about 1300km's with the curve etc. of the Alps and their non-direct routes. Th… Continue

Johan Anderson Wilderness Flying

A light berg wind today. Seems the same for tom. Hopefully after lunch it will have subsided so we can fly. We are starting to get those classic winter flying days - warm and stable! This afternoon is going to be like that. :-) Gerrie will join on the powered hang glider. He loves that little machine - me too! It is such a joy! The easiest, lightest flying machine. Trike pilots take note! ;-) Continue

Free to Adventure Vredendal Flying Club Fly In

Dusted off my trike and headed up to Vredendal for their annual fly in. Getting out off Cape Town Saturday morning was a little interesting, loads of scattered clouds around with the odd bit of fog along the coast. So decided to give it a chance to burn off and only took off at around 10:00. Routed from Fisantekraal to Piketberg and then was kindly accommodated by Langebaan ATC and headed towards the coast just south of Elandsbaai and for some low level flying up to Lamberts Bay, and landed fo… Continue

Dear Mark, For the last hour and one half me and my family sat spellbound and watch your magnificent movie! How wonderful! Bravo! Being in the television business and in production with our own movie/s, what I can honestly say is your adventure, editing, sound engineering and everything else was 110%! Lisa, my co-producer said it was really really an excellent job, everything was...wow! What an experience! Adding, "I want to go". She wants to know where you guys live, Capetown? Lex Petousis Aconcagua 6950m

Not exactly your average flight although Aconcagua is 6950m high, and bloody cold and windy, we were in fact almost blown off our high altitude camp at 6000m. It's a 2,5 week trip done with good local operators Inca Expeditions. Situated in the Andes - Argentina it's the highest summit outside of the Himalayas, not technical but the extreme altitude makes for an adventure. Have heard of folk who have paraglided from the summit ! Lex Continue

Ross Jeffery Looking Back

Hi, I have been with 'free to adventure' since, well basically the beginning. I remeber about 5 or 6 months ago being invited by mark, an email correspondent at the time to join this marvelous site! At the time there were only about 15-20 members! It's incredible going from a small site to a HUGE one with over 300 members. I have been to numerous sites and spread the word of 'free to adventure'. I remember the day I met Mark, it was in April (I think) and i went out to my airfield, also mark's,… Continue

Johan Anderson Me, right now...

Well this is a first. I have never written a blog. But I can tell you I am sure there is no one else out there that will top what I have to say. At the moment I eat dream and sleep flying. That is all I can do... In January I did the unmentionable and broke my neck in a flying accident. I should have been dead but by the grace of God I am not. Instead I am at home recovering. Lots of down time. Lots of DVD's.... Lots of dreaming... But soon I will be back! ;-) Continue
