The quilimane boomerang almost had us again. We woke up to find my starboard tyre flat.
Mark started groveling in his panier bags,a great pastime of his,and emerged with a
can of tyre inflation and puncture repair fluid. Only one problem. The can had no more pressure.
So I strained my back to lift the wheel so Mark could use the last inflation pressure to work
some of the majic fluid into the tyre. We managed to inflate the tyre with a quarter of the pressure
needed but it was our ticket out of Quilimane before the boomerang thrower could find something else
to keep us there. It was great to be in the sky again with no clouds in site after spending the previous
day lounging around the airfield perimeter. The head wind was still there at 20knots on the nose so
we were forced to try and outclimb the nose wind.We finally found a tiny tail wind at 10000ft and
promptly cruised there for the next four hours. The mighty Zambezi river mouth was much smaller
at that height than on the trip up.It was still spectacular and had special importance to us as we flew
the start of this river in Angola/Namibia to the Victoria falls in our last movie ,Flyingthefalls.com.
However it was cold up there. It was freezing. I had four sets of clothes on plus my flight suit and still froze.
It was so cold that you start illuciating that penguins are passing you chased by polar bears. It was
great to land at Beira. With all the layers on ,the tropical heat on the ground almost drowns you in sweat.
I have been plaqued by comms problems where I could hear air traffic control and Mark but could not transmit.

However AT Beira even my hearing comms left on the daily Mozambique airlines flight for the day.Mark and I worked out some good hand signals like days of old.It was weard to wait on Marks handsignal from Beira for engine start up and then folowing him on tower taxi instructions and take off without hearing or speaking a word. After take off we turned out over the airforce base and saw a very sad sight. The apron had five Mig15 standing without undercarraige slowly rotting.a Hanger without a roof had five Migs21 and a solitary Mig19 wasting away.

After crossing numerous rivers we finally made Vilancoulos to find Maximus waiting for us.
